PSHE Workshops From Sex education To Anti Bullying and Drugs & Alcohol Awareness!

Empowering a Generation: Specialist Workshops for Sensitive Topics

Growing up is a challenge for anyone, and in the 21st Century world of cyber-bullying, gun and knife crime and pressure to experiment with drugs and sex, children and young adults are perhaps more vulnerable than ever before.

2020 Effect believe that children and adolescents can overcome the pressures of the present and even the disadvantages of the past to survive and even thrive in life. By developing a full awareness of the reality of the world around them and learning key skills to negotiate difficult circumstances, our young people can choose the path to a happy, healthy, crime-free life and avoid the consequences of taking a wrong turn.

We have created a project, 2020 Dreams, to help empower children of all ages and abilities with the help of specialist workshops and training programs. We work with youth centres, the prison system, pupil referral units, educational establishments, charities and the Police to bring a much-needed positive focus to those who may be without hope.  By encouraging young people to develop goals and motivate themselves, while providing support and guidance, our experienced mentors and workshop leaders are actively turning lives around.

Our 2020Dreams Program Includes:

….and much more!

Bullying is an age-old problem, and it would be naïve to think that there is a magic solution that will rid the world of this destructive form of aggressive behaviour. What we can do is to equip our young people with the tools needed to protect themselves from suffering at the hands of bullies, while raising awareness of the root causes and damaging effects of bullying.

What happens in an anti-bullying workshop?

Our experienced workshop facilitators will work with children to identify different forms of bullying, including cyber-bullying, mobile phone bullying and physical and psycho-emotional bullying. Students will be encouraged to discuss exclusion and bullying on the grounds of race, age, disability, gender and cultural background, together with the experiences of those who have been bullied. Other relevant topics discussed will include peer pressure and conflict resolution.

Using enjoyable role-plays, students will act out genuine bullying scenarios and talk through creative strategies that could be used in the future. By raising awareness of the issue, equipping students with the skills to find constructive solutions and highlighting sources of help, our anti-bullying workshops will help to establish a zero tolerance approach to bullying throughout your school.

“Far too many people still think they can go out armed with a knife. We need to send the clearest possible message that this simply has to change” – Prime Minister David Cameron, June 2011

Our gun and knife crime workshops aim to educate vulnerable children and young adults about the reality of crime and how they can avoid situations which may put them at risk of either being a victim of – or a perpetrator of – gun or knife crime. We also provide a consultancy service to help design effective training programs for others involved in tackling this serious issue.

What happens in a gun and knife crime workshop?

We offer one of two different types of workshop depending on the group: a general awareness-raising session for schools, youth centres or other young people who may be vulnerable to crime, and a hard-hitting workshop suitable for pupil referral units or youth offender institutes.

Using drama-based role-plays, our professional facilitators will initiate relevant topics and encourage participants to come up with their own practical solutions for avoiding conflict and dealing with compromising situations.

Students will also be educated in aspects of gun and knife crime, from its root causes and tragic consequences to forensics, the criminal justice system and the effects of media portrayal. They will also explore the role of self-control and self-respect in staying out of trouble, along with the tools necessary to become a responsible citizen and to achieve a decent standard of education.

To be an entrepreneur is to seize control of your life and harness a wide range of academic and social skills in pursuit of a business goal. Our 2020 Dreams enterprising workshops are dedicated to helping all young people, regardless of background or ability, to realise their ambitions by developing proficiency in presentation, communication, literacy and numeracy as well as business skills.

Modelled on the popular TV series, Dragons’ Den, our ‘Enterprising Eagles’ workshops, run by business experts, sets young students the task of either inventing or improving a product or service. Their performance is then assessed on a variety of criteria.

Our enterprising workshops are also carefully designed to support the development of key GCSE-level skills, particularly speaking and listening but also including reading, writing, mathematics, design, art, music and citizenship.

We also offer empowerment seminars, where guest speakers and life coaches talk about their own experiences while providing constructive advice on starting up and managing a successful business.

Sexual relationships and sexual health are sensitive subjects within any school, but with unplanned pregnancies, sexually-transmitted diseases and sexual exploitation a serious threat to developing children and young adults, they are subjects that need addressing.

Our thoughtfully conceived workshops are designed to provide accurate and relevant factual information, to promote a healthy attitude towards sexuality and to encourage young people of both sexes to make sensible choices in their relationships.

Delivered in a way that minimises embarrassment and protects privacy, our workshops include interactive discussions and role-plays, where participants act out various social scenarios and are encouraged to think about and talk through the choices available to them.

Workshops are age-appropriate and can be tailored to specific subjects. We explore the following issues:
